Manager of Web Services

A slight update to the following is necessary, primarily to reflect the partial implementation of a Drupal content management system; currently at this location.

Job Description

Badgersett Research Corporation (BRC, is a pre-IPO, dynamic company which has been working for 30 years to transform agriculture into a nondestructive enterprise. BRC is the originator and developer of Woody Agriculture systems, whose primary products are advanced hybrid nut-producing plants, and the technical know-how for growing, harvesting and marketing these crops. Our products have growing demand in both domestic and international markets.

Badgersett is seeking motivated applicants for the part-time or contracted position of Manager of Web Services. BRC's web presence is critical to the business both for sales and dissemination of information. The company was among the very first nurseries to have web-based sales, and is now web-based to the extent that no paper sales or catalog material has been produced for 10 years. Addressing our expanding demand and diversifying product offerings requires the addition of this position.

The Web Manager will work directly under the Vice President in the development and maintenance of BRC's company website. Specific areas of responsibility are:

This is a part-time position; currently 5-10 hours per week and expected to grow with the company, possibly up to full-time.
20% administrative, high-level site design, interaction with content contributors.
80% design, development and coding.

Long-term. Fixed-term or fixed-work contracts will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants interested in being a long-term direct hire or in building a long-term relationship for freelance contractual work.

Proficiency with HMTL and CSS, ability to do clear page and site layout, and the motivation to learn what you need to in order to get the job done. Applicants who can give examples of W3C-validated work will be strongly preferred. You need to have your own computer, network connection and work space; this is a telecommuting position, and you need not be near Badgersett Farm.

The preferred applicant will also have experience setting up online catalogs and order forms, and will be familiar with content management solutions suitable for a small and growing information-based company. BRC is generally Mac-based; the preferred applicant will be able to fluently converse in standard Mac/iWork formats. Having a Mac will also make it easier for BRC to supply the Manager of Web Services with company copies of any software necessary to do the job.

Payment for year 1 will be made in pre-IPO company stock. $8,500 starting yearly salary for the long-term part-time position. As the company grows and cash flow increases, in part due to the contributions of this position, the Web Manager will have the option of partial, and eventually full, payment in currency. Generous performance bonuses will be awarded. Bonuses will be paid in either currency or stock, at the employee's discretion, including in year 1.
